Return of West Michigan Poker Run

All,

There is a group of guys here in West Michigan working on putting together a Poker Run, something similar to what Smoke on the Water once was (although it may be named differently). This is a legitimate effort. Multiple meetings have already taken place with local officials and visitor bureaus. Discussions are ongoing with organizers and promoters.

Where: Run would be on Lake Michigan. Home port would be Muskegon, MI. Stop ports would be White Lake, Grand Haven, Holland, and Saugatuck.

Charity: Save the Lighthouses - All lighthouses in Michigan were handed over by the state to non-profits due to funding problems. Many of these non-profits desperately require funds to operate and maintain these important and necessary landmarks (watermarks? Ha).

Price: To be determined!!!

Dates: We would like input on whether August 23-24 or September 5-7 works best. Labor Day is September 1.

This group is trying to gauge attendance for either of these weekends. They are aware that LOTO is the first weekend and that September may carry a colder stigma (although early September is usually the best time to be out due to warmer water temperatures).

If you are SERIOUSLY interested in the idea of this run, and can say with greater than 75% certainty you would attend, please reply with your date preference OR IF BOTH WOULD WORK, port of origin, and number of expected attendees with your party. Also put in how much you would consider a reasonable fee for that many people.

More details will be released as they become available.

Ryan

That would be awesome Ryan! IMO the turnout might be better if based out of Grand Haven. It would be nice to have another west Michigan poker run. What would you be looking at for the entry fees and such?

I think Muskegon is being looked at for the size of the channel, lake, facilities and parking. It's a better logistics center than GH.

1000-2000 a boat? OUCH. Might be a lot for a new organization trying to get something going. Boyne is probably the top event in the north part of the US and it's only $650. Might have a better turnout at 300-500 to start but that's just my .02

I would be in for quite a bit, but $1000-2000 is a lot of coin for a run, that would put me on the sidelines. i'll follow the thread to see if anything changes. Btw with Muskegon having a shorter channel i think it would be a great spot for a run!

So you are planning a new poker run to go up against either the LOTO Shootout or the Lake Cumberland Poker run and you want to charge $1000 to $2000 per boat? Ummm, do you have a plan B?

If the entry fee is under a 1000. I and a buddy would be interested. I will continue to follow this thread the weekend of august 23-24 works best. I would be running my 41 Velocity and my buddy has a 32 Powerquest
