Default Put in Bay Christmas in July?

I heard some boats from Buffalo were heading out for this the weekend of July 25-27. Can someone post some info on this like where you launch, stay, marina for the boats, any group runs, etc.? I've always wanted to visit that area but never been there before as it was always the weekend of the Seneca Lake Run but this year it is the week after.

LEOPA Thunderfest July 26th. www.leopa.com Good amount of boats, the run is organized and is not far from Put-In-Bay. As far as the launch for P.I.B., the easiest is Mazurik Launch in Marblehead right across from the bay on the mainland. Depends on how far thru OHIO you are driving though, East of Cleveland I do not know from experience and between Cleveland and Marblehead you could launch at Huron if you want to make a little ride over on the boat. As far as housing on PIB for that weekend, go on putinbay.com and check out any availability, it may be tough as some housing books a year in advance but not all of the options book that fast. An option we take advantage of is docking our boat at Middle Bass Marina (no rafting there, assigned slips) and taking the shuttle boat to PIB. The marina is very new and has electric/water hookup with showers for overnighting. Pay for your dock ahead of time and you are guaranteed a spot.

a bunch of us are leaving buffalo thursday morning the 24th and are going to launch at the sandusky city launch. we are gonna run to and stay at Middle Bass state park. we have about 15 boats all staying together. the poker run isnt being held there this year. if you call Middle bass state park 419-285-0311 between 9am-2pm you can reserve a dock. they have the nicest accomodations and we just take the ferry over to PIB for the day. there are a few guys from the finger lakes, a few from syracuse, a few from buffalo and a few from ohio all staying under the reservation "Johnston" feel free to call and add on to it so all the NY guys are docked together

We stayed on middle bass a couple weeks ago. It's a very nice facility with a bar/restaurant across the street that has a killer breakfast buffet.

At the Sandusky city launch are you able to leave your truck and trailer there for a couple days? The same question for the Mazurik launch.

i launched at Mazurik last year and launched at Sandusky this past memorial day and had no problems with the truck and trailer at either. i like sandusky better cus it saves a hour in the truck. and by boat... mazurik isnt that much closer of a boat ride to the islands it saves about 15 min and i would rather enjoy the little further boat ride

Haha we missed that place. There's no shortage of places to drink around those islands.
