Where's the best place to launch if you aren't familiar with the area?

Probably Hope Springs Marina in Stafford. It's a quick trip over to Tim's. There is a ramp closer to Tim's, but not suited to our type of boats.

Hope Springs is a little too shallow to navigate inside the marina with our boats at an extreme low tide. But I don't think we'll have to worry about that for a while.

I launched my Sonic 386 at Fairview Beach Yacht club for several years - water in channel is deep, problem was getting out! Launch my Cig at Belle Plains Boat Club in Potomac Creek now, cant launch or get out if tide is low and wind blowing out.

Generally most of the debris stays in the main channel of the river, and the course is more toward the shoreline so we're hoping that debris wont be a problem by the time this weekend rolls around.
