many spectators cannot understand this as it is a race... but thats how it goes
but now many are making faster boats as is the case for the both Donzi this year in order to be more comfortable and have more relaxed engines during racing
They are allowed to run as fast as they want for no longer than a 10 second period of time. This does not have a relevance to a lap, rather they have to be back at 85 or less at the end of the 10 second period of time.

So if they are running along at the magical 85 for example and they can give it all they got for a period of not more than 10 seconds above this 85 mph. At the conclusion of this 10 second window they have to be back to the 85 mph then once they reach 85 or less they can immediately repeat the 10 procedure. Kind of crazy but it catches them out as they count to 9 and then pull back. Oppps... It takes time to slow down and they are busted.

This is new for 2009'

Default Sprint Race Points Awareded to Metamarine

The P1 Management Committee decided to award the #53 Metamarine Pignolo 53 half of the points the team won in Sunday’s Endurance race for the Saturday.
Metamarine Pignolo 53 was unable to race on Saturday at the Turkish Grand Prix of the Sea in Istanbul due to an unidentified fuel blockage just before the Sprint race.
The Metamarine team cited the fuel flow meter as the reason their engines had stopped. When this was inspected nothing could be found to be wrong with the system. However, when it is not in the fuel line the engines worked perfectly.
The reasoning behind the awarding of 50% of the points was that there is nothing that can be seen to be wrong. For half of the time the system works but then stops.
As the problem remains unidentified, 50% was deemed fair by the P1 Management Committee.

Also, regarding the speeding penalty and DQ on Big Sergio, please understand that the speed limits are in effect in SuperSport to ensure the safety of the racers!

unlucky for Metamarine!!!
but as P1 radio put it miracle was to see Metamarine running last weekend, and they did a good race Sunday too
still we are still far away from seeing the best of this boat but better this then nothing, and I hope to see it in all its splendour in San Benedetto in 9 days time
go Metamarine....

My questions are but : a: did they start the race?
b: did they finish 70%of the race?

Metamarine didn't run a single lap saturday. They blamed the not running on the flow sensor P1 uses to monitor everyone's running. I'm pretty confident all boats run the same one, and on friday as well as sunday. It idled out to start the race, but came back before start with the issues.

these points will remain a big question, altough I am sure P1 management did award these after a good recheck...
was it put to the vote with the other teams or P1 just decided this on its own
for now no one is complaining but what would be if Metamarine wins the championship for 40 points...
