Ran the 290 yesterday...
Took our new boat out for the maiden run yesterday. Because our lives are so stress-free, we decided that:
As it turned out, the boat ran like a champ, launching was no problem, and I looked like a pro backing her into the slip - got to love twins!
One thing I noticed, that boat has a HUGE amount of bowrise, you really need to drop the tabs. Looks like a set of those Victory tabs just moved up on my shopping list. We really didn't run her hard, not with the kids on board, but my daughter LOVED it. The boy was not so sure... he hated his life jacket. Going to have to do some shopping in that area.
- We'd launch from the trailer for the first time every (all boats have been rack stored)
- We'd go out without knowing for certain that the port motor was healthy
- We'd take both our 3 year old daughter and our 7 month old son

Dockrocker,
My 300 Revenge has a bunch of bow-rise also. I have to start out with the tabs all the way down or the props start to cavitate(?) Cavitate might be the wrong term here, they seem like they are not getting a good "bite" of water. But with the tabs down it comes on plane pretty quick.

Rick I thought that was you. We never even made it in to Metro, I turned around in the channel - the little guy was not a happy camper. We just need to break him in slowly, I think.

dock
I also would start with my tabs down, but had a problem one time and they did not work for a month so I was able to set them even with the bottom of the boat (like the hull was longer) and that worked very well, as a matter of fact I just left them there after I fixed the problem. only used them in the big stuff with my daughter. By the way I am going to be in the same boat (with children within the next two months) we have a two year old daughter and a baby boy do in July. Let me know how the summer goes will ya Glad to hear trailering was not bad it is defenatly something to know incase you want to travel You should come down to LOTO for the shootout this year, there will be alot of us there.

Doc - QWST showed me the same on my 97 enticer. Trim all the way down, tabs level, pops up very nicely with the 3 blade. I was having trouble with slippage even with just a few taps of trim. All the way down = no problem.

Oh, and the speedo doesn't work (surprise!) - a GPS speedo is definitely on my list. In fact, I'd like to get rid of all the Faria gauges.
