Default 26 Legend Prop Question???

O.K. Was out the other day with the wife and the 3 kids with about a 1ft chop and an air temp around 85 deg with near 100% humidity on the big lake. Saw 60mph on the speedo at 4800 rpm. I'm running a 454mag EFI which is rated to run from 4800 to 5000rpm. I'm currently running a 23p Mirage Plus. Question is I'm thinking a 22 pitch would get me to the 5000 rpm ands maybe a little more top. Just wondering if anyone else has played with props much on this hull and if so what were the results???

Post all of your specs in the prop section and Throttle Up or BBladesprops will give you all the info you need. I currently run a 260 SX with a stock 502MPI, 23P Mirage Plus. I'm turning just over 5000 rpm's and 69 on speedo. I just purchased a 25P Mirage Plus and plan on trying it this week to see if it improves my top end. I will post after testing.

I have a 1999 260 legend just put a 454 mag efi in last week. We just got off the lake a 8pm and the temp was about 85 and very humid in Wisconsin. With 3 adults and 3 kids And running a 21p Mirage plus I ran 62.1 MPH GPS.( 70mph on speedo.) The rpm was running 5,000 on the tach which is about 160rpm low. But I did not hit the rev limiter. If you realy want to dial in on a prop you need to get a digital shop tach hooked uo for an accurate rpm reading. Im going to do this next weekend.

I have a 454 mag carb motor 350 HP. With Stainless Marine manifolds and risers and a K&N flame arrester. I have a 21 Mirage plus repitched to a 22 by Throttle-up. I hit 5050 RPM's at 62.7 GPS. The 23 on your boat at 4800 is right for your boat with stock props. A 21 would put you at too much RPM's.You could repitch to a 22 and get your 5000 rpm's and probably be about the same top end, maybe 1mph more, but a bit better hole shot. You do need GPS for more accurate speed. My speedo reads 65 at wot. Some read even higher

Sounds like I'm over pitched compare to the rest of you. But as always the factory trys to keep you in that lower RPM number for warranty issues I'm sure.

That is the closest the factory can come to perfect with stock props. Mirage plus props come in odd numbers 21,23,25 etc. I would not say you are over propped. Does the boat get on plane good for you? If it does you are good. Like I said before, you could have your prop repitched to a 22, but you wouldn't gain a lot if any on the top end. You would however get a little better hole shot, and 5000 rpm's.

She does come on plan fine. Over the weekend we had 6 adults and 4 children in the boat and she came on plan with no problem. No idea on speed due 2-3' chop and smaller children aboard. Gary is your setup stock??? Looks like the other two guys are running 21's in replace of the 23p on the MPI's at 385hp. I would have thought you to be spinning a 21 and they should be spinning the 22's?

I trade my 7.4mpi for a 454 mag efi(385hp) it has 186hrs on it. I have only had the boat out 2 times with the 454 mag. So I need more water time to really see where Im at prop wise. Do any of you guys get any chine walk at WOT? At WOT I start to get chine walk and need to trim down or throttle back to stop it.The engine seems like it would push the boat over the best GPS speed I recorded (62.1mph) mut the chine walk is what has kept me from holding it wot for to long.

I don't get any chine walking with full trim with the 23p Plus. Just needs some room to get to that top speed. I'll hit 58 mph right away and after that I've got to fine tune the trime to get the last few out of her. But stable as can be.
