Default Any 29's with the props turning in?

I am convinced my 29 would benefit from a touch more stern lift. Right now I am running 25 3 blades turning out. I have heard several on the board recommend 4 blades to help out but was wondering if anyone has experience with turning the props in? If so, what is your experience with performance at all speeds? Plane faster? Impact to
cruise speeds? Top end? Control loss at idle?

On a sad note, time to get mine winterized this weekend

I run a 29 with 330-454's. I just put on some 24 Bravo 1's and my mid picked up maybe 4 mph, My top end however lost about 4 mph. The 4 blades would turn wide open and you could get up and go fix a beverage and come back and the boat was still on the same track. VERY STABLE. I usually turn 23 mirage's that turn 67@5000. I myself am about to turn them in and see if It will gain or lose. I'll post back and let you know. ROB

Turning the props in didn't seem to really make any difference related to speed which I'm assuming is what you are after. Turning them in made the boat (stern) seem looser. Especially in big water in Lake Michigan. I didn't like the way it ran. That doesn't mean you won't like it or how it will feel on the body of water you run it on. I just preferred to keep them turning out. Rick Gemmel at PQ did say four blades were the way to go with that boat but it will slow down the top speed a little.

The GPS will get you thinking, huh Wally? I think the props you have now produce a strong mid range punch with a respectable top speed. If you want to go faster have Ateco spice up those engines and turn more rpms with your current props and rotation. As far as having more stern lift is concerned, just kick some of the heavy weights out of the back seat and you should be fine.

Brian, that's good to know.

Not concerned about top end as overall performance. In particular, loaded with fuel and guys and running in LOTO weekend slop. I needed some stern lift..........

Rich, sounds like we are pulling the boats out Saturday. We'll probably start around 10am....doing me, dave, and watson.

I have a date with 1 case of beer and 2 cases of the pink....

Sounds like you need some supervision to me...

ditto - more supervisors and less workers.

Wally, just go get some blue motors and a set of hering props.

What time are you going out there Saturday? It seems like yesterday when Jeff and I met you at the ramp last spring when you were putting the boats in for the season.

The season goes faster every year.

We'll be there all day Saturday, come out for a cold one or 7.

If you get there early enough you might get a boat ride in, the plan is to do one at a time, take it out for a bit, get it nice and warm, put it on the trailer, get it winterized, start the drive fluid draining, then off for the next boat ride.
