Default Flushing Engine 454 Mag

Just purchased 1999 Powerquest 260 Lengend with 454 Mag EFI / Bravo I drive. Only 68 hours on boat. Summerized by dealer 2 weeks ago. Here's the question? Started it on the trailer with the Mercruiser low water intake nose cone flush attachment. Heavy duty hose 1/2 open with good water flow at start up. Ran the engine 3-4 minutes at no more than 1000 rpms and didn't notice any difference in water pressure. Temperature came up to about 120 degrees. Didn't see much water out the exhaust but after 3 minutes did notice a little water and condensation out my tips and underside of the drive.. sound normal? Also, slight smell of anti-freeze, but just thought it was residual from winterization. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't sound right. It should only take a few seconds....maybe 30 at most...before water starts to flow out the exhaust. What do you mean by hose 1/2 open? I allways turn the hose full on for max water flow. Try it that way next time.

Yes I have Quick & Quiet exhaust and it was open. Would I see water out my thru hull?

Well the Quick and Quiet is not 100% sealed from hull or prop so it is possible that even in the hull mode that some exits the hub and vice versa. I would just make double sure that the system is working and not that you think it is in the hull mode and for some reason it is still in the hub mode.

Either way, like Macklin stated should see a good amount of water flowing out the tips within 15-30 seconds. When I do mine, I have the drive lowered into a large plastic bin full of water (no ear muffs) and I always needed to keep the hose running full in order for the water height to stay level in the bin. The water pump grabs more water than you think!!.

I agree somethings not right. You should have the hose on full blast. You may want to check and see if possibly there maybe a petcock on the block that maybe open. If so you should see a fair amount of water in the bilge. By the way post some pics! A friend of mine was looking at a 26 with about that many hours. Just wondering if it is the same boat? Seems it was in Indiana.

from the sea water pump remove the house that goes to the hot drive and back flow to see if anything is in the line. Reconnect and then that might mean that the sea water pump needs rebuilding. Easy to replace, the rubber part inside is only like 20bucks. That's my experience when I have no water coming out of the ehxaust.
