Default What do you guys think of this ?

I am going to look at this weekend. Any thing in particular I should keep my eyes out for on this model. I understand the quality during this time was pretty good. What can I expect performance wise out of twin 5.7L's. The owner says there is no hour gauge but claims the marina that services it has since new and say no more then 250 hrs. I don’t think there is any way for me to check that other then a good motor inspection. Does any one have experience with this model and twins ?? Seems pretty rare but I don’t know much. Also I can’t tell from the pics but I would guess it has alpha drives, which worries me... (Should I be worried).

The owner says he has only used it on inland lakes like Higgins and such. My intent is St Clair with and occasional drop in Lk MI or Huron. Is this hull pretty good in the rough?

Thanks in advance.
Vince

Maybe I missed it , but what model is it?

Not that I can help with your answer. I have a '91 PQ Conquest 230and that is not a Conquest.

I am assuming it is a 27' or 29'

I have a 92 208 viate. Single 350 mag/alpha. If you can, pull the bottom plug on the outdrive stopping the oil QUICKLY with your finger. Make sure the magnet isn't loaded with metal shavings. Covers from those years are generally wasted. My 21' cockpit cover cost 700 to replace. Give a little more for your case if it needs one. Stitching on the rear hatch was pulling apart. Vinyl work can get pretty expensive. Other than that mine is built like a brick you know what house. 350 is easy on gas. In my case I average 5-6 mpg. Adjust for twins in your case.

I have a 95 270 Laser with a 454 Mag EFI 385hp. I boat out of Grand Haven and the boat does great on Lake MI. Handles 2-3 pretty well, any thing bigger and you just need to put the tabs down and take it easy. I have always felt very safe in this boat on the lake. Mine does 55 - 56 pretty regularly on flat water. Best is 58 on gps. I haul alot of crap on the boat and usually have at least half tank of gas. Lighter load might give an extra mile or two more speed. If the 5.7 twins give you more speed and you have the benefit of a second engine if one goes down you can always limp back. If the speeds aren't much better a single big block might be more cost effective to run and maintain. I estimate I get about 2 mpg. Good luck in your search.

Gotta be a 29. The 5.7 were pretty rare. I would guess a 60mph boat???
