Default Yellow 380

My buddy's been looking at the yellow (with graphics) 380 in the classifieds. He's talked to the sales guy and apparently one engine swallowed some water and had to be replaced, along with the drive for some reason, to the tune of 24,000K total in repairs. We're curious why it's waaaay below any other 38 (came way off the listed price). Is there something we're not being told, or is it because it's yellow? We're in St.Louis so if anyone has any input it would be appreciated.

I've heard before that the yellow hurts the resale pretty bad. I'm not saying there may not be other issues too. A friend bought a yellow 38 for way less than its white counterparts a few years ago. I personally wouldn't mind the yellow and would love getting a break in price because of it

I heard that from 98 - 2000 powerquest had hull issues with these boats. there is another thread on speedwake.com about it. Something to do with high speed handling of the boat. Boats had to go back to the factory for repairs. I also been looking at that boat being that it is also vinal wrapped not painted I think hurts its resale.

So if it is Vinyl wrapped, wouldn't that be removable? And what color under the vinyl?

Just curious?

Come on, don't leave us hanging! What the story on this 38?

We know about the hull design issues during '99, but can't all of that be fixed?

For arguements sake, even if all 98-99's have hull issues they all are asking a whole lot more than this yellow thing

Pending whats under the vinyl you could do some fantastic graphics with the yellow background. I myself kept looking at that wondering whats up. Seems like a great deal and at that price I would think you could make things rights. Just remember it will never be very fast. But in the eye's of everyone walking down the beach and the piers they all will swear that boat does at least 100mph!

Then buy it and let me know how it works out for you.

There is a 2001 down here, the guy is asking $90k. 500's cool paint etc. Who knows he may take $80k. You'd be much further ahead & happier.
