2" shorty

Hey guys can someone explain this to me please......I see alot of posts where there is reference to having a 2" shorty on the outdrive and several mph gain. I have a Bravo x outdrive. What would I need to do to the outdrive to obtain this?
thankx for any input.
Mike

Is yours an XR? drive? Outdrive has upper and lower section. The lower case can be replaced with the IMCO case, it is 2" shorter then the stock bravo lower. I am pushing closer to about 520hp at the prop, and getting 55mph at about 4300rpms.

I have the Bravo X- my understanding is they are the same.
I need to do some more research to find out where the split is in the drive...I cant visualise it.....must go look at the drive.
thanx for the response.
