2000 Powerquest 280
What is wot for a 280

What should be the expected top speed for a 2000 280 silencer with a fresh stock 502 MPI? Currently I have a supercharger, which I'm taking off and spinning a 30P. I assume I'll need to change the prop. What should I go to?

Why the change of heart and taking off the SC? I have a procharger on my 280 496ho turning a 28 4 blade. I talked to a guy with a stock 496ho and runs about 66 or so.

I have a 2000 280 Silencer. Stock 502, best speed I got so far is 67 on GPS. I'm turning a 24 Bravo1, you will definitly need to change your prop.

Thanks. I don't need to go 80. If I can run wide open at 65 I'm thrilled. I would like to be able to get around 40 at 3500.

The Procharger is cool for someone looking for the big speed, but otherwise is a pain. Everything is changed, my mechanic who I trust a lot isn't familiar with the procharger, I've had numerous problems not specifically linked to the charger, but still problems. I just think for my application I'm better off running a stock motor.

I'm not sure what prop I'll have to switch to (I have a b1 30), but I'll be selling the prop, procharger (including intercooler), and all of the fuel stuff.

I bought the boat in May. Initially I had an alarm going off and couldn't figure out what it was; ended up being the spark driver in the ECM. Had to replace the ECM at a cost of $1200.

Then it wouldn't get up on plane; ended up the distributor gear was worn. Replaced that and within 5 hours the new gear wore. Replaced that

Now I think I spun a bearing (maybe shavings from the worn distributor). So, I don't think any of my issues are related to the charger, but I also think having the charger just provides something else to possibly go wrong and at a minimum confuses the diagnostic process. I just don't want it........and, for my uses don't need it. I'd rather go stock.

If I want to boost HP slightly I may add headers next year. They'd sound better, look bettter, give me a little more performance. But, we'll see.

In any case, no more supercharger for me.

2000 280 Silencer 502 Mag. 26 pitch B-blades Labbed prop. 67 Mph, 3 people in boat, 5/8 tank of fuel. Less than 1' chop. Have seen almost 70 on GPS in perfect conditions 1-2' chop, with a 30 mph Tail wind!!!! 1/4 tank of fuel 2 people.

Good luck with the boat. Let me know what you want for the supercharger I would be interested
