depth sounder

I have a 2000 PQ290 Enticer and my lowrance 3500 depth sounder no longer works. My question is can I mount a puck style transducer to the bottom of the bilge or will it need to be drilled in. Is it just a solid fiberglass hull with no core? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Does that mean a transducer won't work right if glued in the bilge compartment? If so, that explains why mine doesn't work once I start moving............

Thanks for the welcome. I am in Texas and primarily boat on lake Conroe. So far the 290 has been very stable and reliable.
