legend top speed

looking to see what kinda topend speed you guys are getting in the legend or silencer and what hp you have.........ive never dyno'd mine but was told close to450 im running a 4blade 22 and getting 56 with a full tank 4 people on board....i no they are not the fastest hulls out there a buudy of mine has a 25 baja approx 500 hp and is 72-73 with a 3 blade

454mpi 385hp, 4blade hydomotive, 64mph 1-2 chop 1/4 tank, single person.

The hull is not designed for speed, it' just so happens to do everything really well, not great. Baja has a good hull for speed, no doubt, but I'll take a PQ in the rough any day.

502 upgraded to 509 500hp around 72 mph with a 25 pitch 4 blade. Full tank of gas and two people.

My top speed is 57.8 on GPS. 1/2 tank of fuel, 4 people plus a bunch of crap as we where staying the weekend. 1-2 foot chop running 454 MPI bravo 1 with Mirage Plus 23 pitch.

boat is a 1998 260 Legend SX

My buddy was running along side me in his Baja force 265 and was getting beat up badly from the chop, it was pretty smooth for us.

Like was mentioned before, it's not fast, but it's the smoothest running 26 footer out there. We love ours.

yeah i gotta agree with you guys.....the pq handles the rough stuff wayyy better than baja, you can really see the diff in both boats esp when they are parked side by side, the pq is much more solid looking boat. just intrested in hearing what you guys are running. also mine has the pumpout porta poti...is there a holding tank or is the holding tank just the base of the potti?

Good question, I've never put water in the tank or even used the head. I have no idea how it even works.

Yes, the holding tank is in the base on the 260. What I did was put a cap on the hose and base so I can manually remove the base and get it completely cleaned out.:grinser010:

Im hitting 57 mph with mine (gps).....1/2 tank of gas and 3 people. 454 mag efi at 385 hp...I raced a friend of mine in his 2002 Nordic Heat (28 ft) with a 496 mag ho and a stepped hull over the weekend...He beat me but it took him forever--why? because it was rough sees and he had to keep backing off the throttle (his 4 passengers were getting beat up)...he passed me for a few seconds in the end but then had to back off again (I think his girlfriend was yelling at him to slow down!!!)

As everyone else has said--speed isnt what this boat is all about but they look great and get you there comfortably and Im still faster than 90% of the boats in Seattle.

Update--The above speed was with a Hydromotive Quad IV 23 P prop at 4500 RPM and NOT the right prop for a Legend..I just put a Mirage Plus 23P on and am now hittiing 5100 RPM at 63 MPH..1/2 tank of gas and 2 people on board.

I made a mistake, the Mercury Revolution prop is a 23p 4 blade, not 22p. The prop that came on the boat was a 23p mirage 3 blade

my 2004 with 496 mag ho has seen 63 once on GPS with about 1' chop and a light load of fuel and only me in the boat. This was with a 23P Rev 4 prop, spinning about 4700RPM. Most of the time with different loads, I am good for about 57-58mph if conditions are right. Everyone is right about the stability of this boat though, as you can run it as hard as you want and always feel planted and safe. I have thought a lot about a different boat that could be better to trailer around without a big rig and always come back to the fact that I may have the perfect balance of comfort, speed, looks and operating costs.

I saw my biggest gain when going from a 3 blade 23p Mirage Plus, to a 4 blade 23p Hydromotive, I always thank Fast Forward for doing all the testing with his boat and I just keep adding things that worked out well through all his tests. I thought you would be spinning a lot more than 4700 rpm with a 22p.
