pq 280 vs at 28 vs 29 fountain
Hey all
Thinking of upgrading a bit in the next year or so & was curious to get some feed back on all 3-pros & cons. I've got a pq257 legend and no the pq brand a bit. And if they were powered all the same (say 525) which would be the fastest and handle the slop the best.
Cheers

I just bought a 280 silencer and to be honest i wouldnt want to be in it a 80mph plus. It gets loose at high 60s because of the step hull. ive never rode in a 29 fever but the 27 fever also has cornering issues because of being a short hull with a step. I love the ride and look of my 280 tho and it has the feel of a high end performance boat when im crusing it....btw where do you paint at? I also am a painter.

Wow 3 of us?....I took over a family busineSs back in 2000...mostly commercial buildings and some industrial stuff- how about you guys
And what makes the AT the better of the 3 is it build quality..I also thought the step was designed to achieve higher speeds I no its still a 28 and they are not meant for much more than 80mph.

Im an automotive painter. Been painting since i was 14 and im 3rd generation shop owner. I do alot of custom paint on harleys, show trucks, boats ect. And I agree the fountain prob would be the fastest. but i thing the PQ has more style and a lil more affordable. Prob the most affordable of the 3. and i think the best for your money.

It would be an interesting line up.
The 280 needs a little tab input to take the chine walk out of it, don't know about the other two.
Since we're talking about painters, I am one by trade as well, heavy industrial and heavy equipment.
I had an industrial sandblasting and painting company as well as a heavy equipment/ truck body shop, sold it almost 5 years ago.

I'm automotive. Specialize in high end European and exotics.
Fastest= Fountain. Small cabin and not much freeboard.
Most affordable= Powerquest. Nice size and decent room.
Activethunder is a step above both. Quality, rigging and rough water capability.
Look and drive all three. See what one suits you and your needs best. You can't go wrong with any of them.

well since we are just throwing opinions...fountain fastest but small. Active Thunder best ride in the rough and a true"speed" boat. PQ is the best "all round" boat. Nice ride. good speed. nice luxuries such as cabin and cockpit size with storage and cupholders where you need them.
The 280 actually smooths out and feels more stable at 75 than at 65. That hull does get weird from about 63-68 mph. Never got up to 80 as a comparison but 70 and up feels solid.
again...just my opinion
