I know of a 28. It was originally a 575sci boat with ITS. It is running 1000 HP on a 1.34 drive and IMCO lower, not sure of prop. Best I have heard was 114mph not turning optimal RPM. This is at low elevation.

Thats a good running cat, how did it handle those speeds, I'm thinking of adding a 14/71 but not sure of the boats capabilities. Thanks for the feed back. Larry

Thanks Dean, I will call and get that #, Have you ran yours yet this year, How did it do? when I bought this cat, it had the 12" box with a 3" rise and the owner had put in a 1 1/2" spacer, he said to cut down on the 70-80mph porpoising, I took the spacer out and added 100lb's in the tip of the sponsons, 50 per side, I had minimal porpoise and gained 11-12 mph. The boat likes the drive high.
Thanks again
Larry

Hey guys. Glad to see 280 cat guys posting here. Hopefully we all can share more info.
My boat is a 2001 280 with a 575sci and 1.5:1 XR drive. The current prop is a lab finished 30 pitch bravo repitched and restamped to a 32 which I can turn 5400rpm. I have not really had to do anything with setup. It seems to run the fastest with neatral trim. If you try to trim it up to air it out it feels good but it is not doing anything for you as far as speed...WOT you will see your speed go up and tach stay the same by trimming down. Watch your speedo not the tach. I dont think the X is very high since the is not much if any surface piercing going on.
On a side note...If any of you are running 575sci package...change your headgaskets and your blower oil. I dont care if it only has 100hrs on it. They are JUNK!!!

Hi JRIDER
is your drive standard lower or shorty, what are you running?
97 - 98 mph, mine's raised 3" with a 12" standoff, and it seems to like the drive high, best speeds are with drive in neutral position or just a little up.

280 cat set-ups
hey guys ,had a chance to finally run mine fathers day weekend, previously with the 575 stock xr drive 32 maximus cut down to 15 from 15 5/8 with two adults it would hit the rev limiter at 85 mph and would run 91-92 with 32 bravo 1. Now with the quadrotor engine, 5 adults the same maximus prop I backed off at 6000 rpm at 98 mph, have not tried the 32 b1 yet. also I added a 1 inch drive spacer and a nose cone this year. dean

sounds like your heading down the right road, you should break the triple digit pretty easy once you get you set-up down, why did you add the spacer? how do you like the 5 blade? good luck on your next test run. Larry
