Default Polishing ?'s

Alright, 3 years ago I bought my boat. Scarab Panther w/ twins, 25" mirages. I had trouble getting the boat on plane in anything over 2 waves. the next winter I took them to the prop shop here and had them look at them. They told me all the cupping was washed out of them. They added the cupping and last year never had any problems getting on plane in any conditions.

Here is the problem, I went from 72.8 mph @ 5200 to 69.7 mph @ 5000. They put a satin finish on them, would I get any of my rpm's and speed back by polishing them back to a mirrored finish? They told me the blades we already thinned and wouldn't advise going any further. They are back at the shop due to tree below the water line that I hit while idling last year. any suggestions are appreciated.

The polishing will not help with the speed, if anything you will lose speed. You experienced the speed loss due to the cup that was put in the props. With three blades this is a common trade off. Plane ability or speed.

I agree on the polishing. No reason unless you want them to look real pretty.

If the cupping was put in correctly at the right height and right location the speed/rpm should of stayed and the planing issue disappeared.

When thinning, are they using templates or just noticing the blades have been thinned?

Make sure the current repair doesn't involve blade area removal or you may be experiencing more speed loss.

The biggest difference is in the trailing edge. The Mirage Plus has added cupping specifically in the max diameter areas.

Also the propeller comes with Flo-Torq hub assemblies and PVS venting.
