Thrust Bushing needed for Cleaver Prop on TRS
Was going to test a pair of 21P cleaver props on TRS drives and "learned" the Mirage thrust bushing won't work with the cleavage props.
What part number do I need? Anyone have a pair I can purchase?

The part number is Quicksilver 14359. Any company that handles Quicksilver can get this for you. Expect to pay about $15.

If you can't find them in your area, we can ship you some.

Re: Thrust Bushing needed for Cleaver Prop on TRS
Got the Quicksilver 14359 thrust washers--they are too thick and cause the prorp to be to far out on prop shaft.
There is a taper on the prop shaft and a corresponding taper on inside of prop. Local-yokels are saying I don't need thrust washer. I don't like the feel of that but the prop seems to fit perfectly with out one.
DO I dare run it for test with out the washer? The smmes to be no interference wiht carrier or an part of prop housing--

Some of the older props didnt take a thrust washer some did.If it has the taper in the front I would say its ok. Post a pick of the front of the prop to be sure.

here are some pictures--bow end, stern end, overall. Hope you can see the taper in the bow-end picture and can judge from "ears" something about prop--supposedly an old TRS clever.

No washer needed for that prop. I myself would not use that on any application. Old school prop. Your not going to happy with it .Go to a bravo 4 blade.

z.zuperboat--
Thanks for your feedback. The prop came with the boat so I figgered it would be interesting to see what it did.
Props seem to be as emotional as oil and facts are as difficult--like trying to sepreate fly-chit from pepper.
Will keep you posted- I feel like the right 4 blade is good answer too--just what pitch and diameter becomes the Q&A.

You need a base line to start with so the prop pros can be more accurate. Some companies have a prop exchange program.I know Teague marine in CALifornia has one. Buy a set and return until you find something that works. Bret at BBLADES will get you close first try but he's going to need to know desired rpm and rpm now with the prop you have.

Re: Thrust Bushing needed for Cleaver Prop on TRS
Bret was very helpful--and patient to--I had a lot of questions.
I've verified that engines are 330HP--that's a minor problem and not a variable. The drives are rebuilt/modified TRS's that I think are longer than ones I replaced. I think they are longer from cavitation plate to prop shaft.
The distance from bottom of hull to prop shaft cl is about 9" and drives are 33 1/2" apart .It seems like props are deep in water under boat.
The props now are 21P X 15 dia Mirage's and like I said only gettin 4000 to 4100 WOT rpms.
Gonna work with getting some more dimensions and start the process.
Those cleavages are here and I've got some time--what the heck.
