Default Prop Size

What is the normal prop size that would get the best top end on a Baja 20' Outlaw with a stock 305 mercury. The current size is a 14.5 18 pitch and is into the rev limiter.

The Baja's run well with Mirage Plus props. Also something to consider may be a Laser II which is a fast propeller. If you post some performance data we can take a look at your numbers.

What is your WOT RPM?
What is yoru WOT MPH via GPS?
What drive and gear ratio?

Smile Re: Prop Size

I have always liked 3 blade propellers on Baja hulls. Anyone who has been a regular on this forum since its inception 1 year ago has most likely heard my rhetoric. It still depends on your goals. Yours is speed.

The answer to your question is..........................

We don't actually know till we find it.

I'm not trying to be funny. It's just a fact that a totally abnormal discombobulated propeller could ultimately prove to be the fastest one (alway something to keep in mind when CNC'd props come up in conversation).

But, more than likely, a Mirage Plus Lab Finished to the correct recipe will give you the best top end. I would test with a 19 pitch and use that information to make a informed decision.
