32 Bravo to what Maximus
I am thinking about going from a 32 Bravo to a Maximus? What pitch should I consider and what diameter? I hear that if you want to increase your mid range with out hurting top end you need a maximus with a chopped down diameter. Is this true?
I have no speed or slip number with the bravos. The boat only has 4 hours on it and haven't ran it WOT yet? I need somewhere to start.
Thanks!

Re: 32 Bravo to what Maximus
I wouldn't work with props yet. Get the boat out, get a feel for the boat. Find out how it performs in different conditions and note what you like and dislike about the handling and performance issues of the boat.
After you feel comfortable with the boat and have some good performance numbers then consider props.
What kind of boat and power do you have?
When you are ready for props give us call. We can manufacture a 5 blade CNC machined prop in any diameter or pitch, with a warranty, for you for about the same price as a lab finished Maximus.

Re: 32 Bravo to what Maximus
Agreed, you need some better WOT numbers on the boat once the engines have a little more break in time. In therory, the 30's will be the prop if the 32's work for you in the Bravo 1 series.
We can definitely improve the mid range greatly with Lab Finished Maximus propellers made to the specifics you need. We have seen 8-9 mph mid range cruise speed improvements.
As far as the pricing, we see the Throttle Up 5 blades advertised on this web site for $1900. per prop. We can do the Maximus propellers at $1430 per prop! This will be a savings of $940 on a set of propellers! As far as performance is concerned, I can promise we can make these propellers perform equally as good and in cases better than CNC'd propellers.
Once any given boat reaches ITS best efficiency level, whether it is 8,9,10% slip, worse or better, the boat is at its best performance level. It won't get any better. Correct propeller work can achieve these levels. We can do this with Maximus propellers.

Clark, I would not put five blades on the boat.
Rich has tried them a couple times, and they just eat the s hit out of XRs. They bite hard, and Rich has gone through a bunch of XRs because of this.
Stay with the 4 blades and have them labbed to get everything perfected.

Re: 32 Bravo to what Maximus
In the case that Clark is looking for great mid range, These props on 525's and XR drives will be fine. Keep the props in the water and the drive train will handle this power.
Use the 4 blades to get the big top end and 5 blades to travel distances.

Re: 32 Bravo to what Maximus
I went from a worked 32 BBlades Bravo 1 4 blade to a BBlades worked 30 Maximus 5 blade on my Lavey Cat. I pull a 1:34 gear. There was almost no difference in top end. Maybe 1 mph but the hole shot was great as well as the mid range. I have a 2" shortie and was spinning the 4 blade pretty good to get on plane. The 5 blade has very little ventilation. Both props good for about 110 mph.
My rpms dropped a little. Can't say how much, too busy watching the water. Maybe 100-150 rpms.
Call Bret at BBlades . He is good. Quent

I have a pair of Hydromotive P5 30s for sale, I use them as back ups and they could/should be labbed. For $1,000 plus lab work, you can't go wrong.
