Prop help for 35 Sonic
I have an old style 35 Sonic that I am looking for a starting place for props. I had a pair of 540's built by Eddie Young that will make @ 650 hp each. I am running 1.5 bravos and need a place to start. I want to pull about 5400-5500 with a light load. The drives are really deep at about 8 inches below hull in nuetral position. I am thinking of starting with 28 bravos not labbed. I also have access to pair of 1" shotie drives I may also try and would like to know if anyone has tried these and with what props for the shorties if I go that route. thanks in advance for the advice.

With prop shafts at 8 inches below the hull you are pretty deep. They may be to deep for the Bravo props....I would suspect that the 1 inch shorties would help but the question is how much. As I always say if you havew a chance to test props do so because you might just be surprized! And as always proceed with caution anytime you install new equiptment.

8" would put the cavs. even with the keel. Common old school.
Your boat probably likes deeper drives but a slight rise may help. Bravo 1's can run deep or high.
Try whatever you have and we can discuss it from there.

I had a 93 35 Sonic with 1.5 bravo drives - 525SC's making about 600hp each. My drives were also mounted low. I found the 28" bravo props did the best job. I tried Propco and Hydro's and they both blew out while getting on plane. I lab finished the Bravo's and was pretty happy with the results. Spun them between 5100-5200.

Thanks OuterControl for the info I will let you know hopefully next week. I am thinking labbed 30's or stock 28's but I am hoping to turn them 54-5500
