27p Hydromotive Q-IV-X. Make sure you get the X. With the 27s you can have them worked +/- 1 if you need.
Hopefully Joe will chime back in and share what RPM he ran the 28s to. That will help you decide.
Dang Ben, "the pros" don't respond to every post, specially when it's something probably already covered. Not everyone can front the coin for multiple sets of props; with a resource like OSO nobody should have to. Most "80s vintage vees" experience better performance with the right 4-blade over the old Mirage 3-blade...
Gotta look out for a fellow Formula owner

Saulesses,

I am glad that you called Hydromotive, as we discussed I no longer carry Hydromotive props, so direct is the best way to go, for Hydros. Tom and Todd are good at what they do and I knew they could help you.

Hi well hereīs the thing i have followed many paths to try and find a solution por my prop situation i talked to both Bblades and hydromotive and they both advice me to try the 23īs pitch mirages and see how would the boat perform but b blades told me he thought the best way to go would be going for a mirage plus 25 Pitch Prop Lab Finished so I have a friend that has a pair of 25,s mirage and he let me try them so basically happened what i thought would and the engines reached max at 4900 RPM sitll remaining 300 RPM.s more to go my best speed GPS was 68.5 MPH which wasent what I was expecting anyhow my speed at 3900 RPM ws 54 MPH which i liked but I would like my boat to at least reach 73 or 74 MPH top end any suggestion on PROPS,

Should i go for the QUAD IV even as many people suggested elsewise. WHAT PITCH basically when you increas to 4 blade have to raise pitch by one inch, to that would say that at 4900 RPM i will be at 4900 RPM with a 26 PITCH HYDRO so if I want to gain 300 RPM I should go for a 24 PITCH Hydro Quad 4, I Think this would be optimum but what i noticed between the Mirages 25 and 23 is with the 25 mirage the boat go to plane really easy at 2500 rpm and at 3900 rpm reached 54mph nice cruising speed while the 23,s would take me to 4400 to get that crusing speed.

I am running 26 pitch Bravo 1s on an 89 with 502/425 mags. The boat runs right about 71-72 at 4900 rpm very light on GPS. I know a TRS is gonna be slower but if you really have 540 HP you should be able to turn more than a 25 P 3 blade. That said you might try a 24 p Hydro or Bravo and see if you can spin up a few more RPM. Do you have dyno sheets on the motors? Where did they make their power and torque?

This might help a little

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ht=hydromotive

Just to reference I have a 38PQ Non Step, 500hps It originally had 25p Mirage Plus, I decided to go with a set of 25p Q4x Hydros. I gained 1-2mph top speed and increased my rpms by 100. The Mirage props turn pretty hard. The best thing was the cruise speed increase. On top of every thing the boat handled better and felt lighter.

The guys at Hydo are top notch. Good luck on your search. T

Thanks guys really helpfull i think I am going to try the Quad IV and see what happens The props I tryied were 25 Pitch Mirages but dont know if the were labbed or what because it came from a cigarette top gun with 600 HP he can spin them to 5500, in my boat i was only able to spin them to 4950 aprox anyway I do think i have the hp because with my current props i increased and my old 420 engines that were fresh i was able to pull them up to 4400 RPM with the same setup and i gaines RPM tu reach 5200 so thats 800 RPM by adding 240 HP between engines so i guess the HP is there but i noticed yestuday my boat wasent running mirage 3 Blades it has quicksilver 23.s i think know for sure they are 23 pitch but I think this is also affecting my ride.
