Yes, getting on plane without ventilation. (different than cavitation)

Sometimes ambiant air will still be drawn through the drive because of the huge pressure differential. Diff. rings were started back in the outboard days of old when all exhaust travelled through the hub.

$40 to remove a Bravo diff.

Yes, the diffusers can amplify the chining once it begins. The ramping effect the flares have, can fertilize the motion once it begins, especialy if the props are surfaced.

More seat time may allow you to control the chine before it even starts. Preventing, not driving through is the key.
Thats what I have learned ,is how to drive it, to counteract chinwalking.Like ballancing it its worse in flat water on mine and a little chop make alot of diff.

That is exactly how mine behaves. The flatter the water the greater the chime walking, especially when trimmed out.
