Default Prop Help For 1999 29 Baja Outlaw...

Well I had on before 24P Bravo 1's with my 29 Outlaw with the twin 385hp 454's...
I was able to pull about 5000 RPMS before Which what these engines are rated at but I was only doing about 66-67 mph...
Someone had told me that moving up to the 26P Bravo 1's would do the trick...
DEF not right! I just bought a set of 26P Bravo 1's (which are for sale now) and just got back from the lake...was Barely able to pull 4000 RPM's and couldn't even hardly get to 60mph trimmed and everything...

Need some help guys...What Do I do now...I've seen some guys runnin' 25P Labbed 3 Blade Mirage's and pulling about 72-73 On same boat that I have...Is that what I need?

Thanks any help is appreciated!

Donny

If the 26P props are stock and the 24P are stock then there would be a 400 RPM difference between the two. If this is not the case than one or both sets of props are not true stock props.

I Did notice that the 24P props are MUCH thinner than these 26P B1's...the 26P's look about 2 times as thick on the blades...
And i can get 5000RPMS out of the 24's and 4000 out of the 26's...what props do you suggest?

The 24's must be labbed and thinned.

Are the "other guys" saying that is what they run or are they really running 72-73??????

Try to borrow a set of the 25 Mirage plus's to test.

Try 4- blade Hydromotive 26p , then lab if close; you'll gain about 200rpm's by labbing. I had the same difficulties with the B1's, Bogmeisters we call em'.

yes the 26 B1's bog the hell out of my 454 mags...the 24's did good just need some more topend...I think they were stock 24's spinning 5k...Aren't the hydromotives right on for pitch? meaning the 26B1's are a pitch less 25P? wouldn't the hydromotives bog down the engines worse?

That was my thinking as well. If you can't spin 26 Bravo's, then I highly doubt you will be able spin 26 hydros.

If the blades on the 24's are that much thinner than the 26's, then they have been reworked.

just wondering if I went to 25P Mirage 3 blades if those will bog down the engines too though? I'm just wanting to know which props will work best for my boat...

Labbed 24P props will run like 22P stock props. Bravo I props are basically 1 inch less in pitch so a 26P Hydro would reduce RPM even further. Additionally, Hydro QIV props are about 15.25-15.50" diameter, so a .25-.50 inches of greater blade surface area.

I used 25 mirage plus props on my 29 Outlaw and the setup was pefect. I saw 72-73 mph all day long. Here is a little tip for you. When running flat out, lift your sundeck about 1" up and watch the rpms go up and gain 1.5 mph also. The engines dont breath so well on these boats. This info came to me directly from some factory test guys that I ran into one day boating down in St Petes
