Typically, you will reduce one inch of pitch when adding a blade. But this is on a case by case basis. With our CNC propellers there are many variables. Always making sure we keep your goals in mind.

Going from a Bravo 1 to a Maximus will usually require down sizeing by 2". It would need to be discussed as I mentioned earlier depending on your desires.

We have seen 5-8 mph increases in the mid range as common. We have even experienced 10-12 mph cruise speed increases.

We have Maximus propeller available for testing at $30 a pair if you would like to try them in stock form to determine the possible customizing you desire.

So if WOT is 5200rpm and GPS Speed is 81 you are recomening a pair of 15.25 or 15.5/8th by a 32 pitch to start
with? if so how do I go about geting the props to try them?

Let me know if you are interested in a pair of Hydromotive P5 labbed 31s. $1600.

32's may require Labbing to get your ultimate rpm back. Yes, 15.25" diameter is common on your hull.

Call us and we will set up the testing.

Default Prop info

I have a 2001 29' Fever with a single 500HP. After talking with Mercury Racing and Teague Marine here is what I did. Initially, I had a Bravo 1 four blade 15.25x26 pitch propeller, I was running 40mph at 3500 rpm and 76WOT-5400 rpm. I sent the prop to Mercury and had it cupped to 27 degrees, after this I ran 45mph at 3500 rpm and 77WOT-5200 rpm. Finally after consulting with Mercury and Teague again I bought a 15.25x29 lab finished 4 blade Bravo 1 from Teague. With this prop I am running 52mph at 3500 rpm, 78-79mph WOT-5000-5100 rpm. I did try a 5 blade Herring in that time but I didn't have the HP to turn it properly. As others have said you should probably go to a 32 pitch from your current 34 if you add a blade. I wish I had the opportunity to borrow props like has been offered to you. Would have made it easier and less time consuming for me. Hope this helps.

Looking back at the posts, Carder must of had terrible slip numbers in the mid range as well as WOT. Any type of additional blade area would help his set up. His CG and X dimention may still be a question mark. Curently he is still at 13.7% slip @ 4500! This is often evident in these hulls. Don't be discouraged with those numbers. You definately should have picked up 10 mph with 5 blade props in your mid.

MAI0076, I'm guessing your 29's are made from 28 castings? The way Teague gets them from Merc suggests there may be a little to be done to those propellers to gain1-2 more on the top end. That could be at the expense of 1-2 in the mid though.

I think the 29 pitch did come from a 28 pitch casting, as that is what Mercury has. It does have 29 embedded in to the side of the prop though, not 28. If I had to do it all over again I think a 28 pitch lab finished would be the best fit for the boat. I really like the fact that I gained 12mph @3500 rpm but it is extremely sluggish out of the hole and tough to get on plane with a full load.
