I'm no expert but had a 28' cig before. sbc 400 hp+ it was a little lighter than the bbc set up. It ran ok w/3 blade23p mirages72mph.It ran good w/hydromotives 25p 75mph, It ran best w/old solid hub reworked 3blade mercury cleavers 25+pitch ran 79 mph. the drives are deep and stern lifting props seem to work the best. Good luck.

You were getting 79 out of 25 cleavers?? Was this a TRS setup? How many RPMs where you spinning them?

BTW, 420hp SBC's

5300rpms. I had a pair of 400sbc and trs. The cleavers had been reworked by merc racing, but were old school solid hubs. The new owners had luck with hydromotives w/383ci. My buddies cig28/ with bbc runs 25p mirages for about 75mph.

Yes Tim bought the boat from me. I found it as a total wreck behind a muffler shop, and rebuilt it on a tight budget doing everything myself(motors, paint etc.) in my front yard. If anyone knows what happened to it, let me know. I heard it was auctioned cheap by a bank? The pic of the boat in black and white is from the old owners. Hey thrillseeker any pics of your cig?

Miss Cigarette is in Sandusky, Ohio. The owners name is Greg he seems to re rig Cigarettes for a hobby and he doenst cut corners, or pennies.

Last I heard he was re rigging it. He just sold a 73 that was by far the baddest azz 28 Ive ever seen. 500 hp. SBCs, Bravos, 6 man bolster, american flag paintjob, ran in the high 80s. Il put some pics of mine up a little later.

I had a 1978 28' Cig approx. 300HP/350s TRS.
21p Cleavers, 61-62mph @ 5200rpm
21p Mirages, 57-58mph @ 5000rpm
21p Turbo Vectors, 59-60 @ 5200rpm
We ran the Turbos 3 out of the 4 years we had the boat.
