Will a 3 Blade Cleaver fit a B1?
I've been offered one and don't know if it will even fit let alone work.
It's a 28P RH with a removable hub.
Any thoughts???

I'd love to find a local Prop Shop, but they all look at me funny when I tell them I have a motor other than an outboard!

I'll keep looking around though, there has to be someone in this city who deals in actual performance sterndrives or parts!

Out of curiosity, do any egg beater (outboard) props fit Bravo 1s?
a hydromotive 3 blade 24 I have for sale. its got smaller pitch and diam than my mirage 25 I had. my 25 ran 4700 and the 24 was more 4900rpms same speed and 24 was faster for getting on plane and hitting top speed. its sitting cause I AM RUNNING a 5 blade 30 this year. I might be selling my labbed 26 too. its a 4 blade.with your deep drive a three will be better but a merc rev 4 which is used on OBs is GREAT FOR DEEP DRIVES THERES A 25 FOR SALE CHEAP MONEY IN THE SWAP section. I would sell the 24 for 250 and the 25 is around the same I think. if you want any help packaging the two together if you want mine I could box the to to see if over seas shipping would be cheaper. good luck with your power its fun I am going from 330hp to 390 hp then to 585hp then to 650 hp and know 1050hp over 18years in one boat started at 62/68/76/84 and now looking for 100 plus. art

yes it will but
they are old tech and take forever to get on plane, I tried one in 94 against my 24hydro it was a joke the 25cleaver went 56mph and my 24 hit 68mph. good luck look at that rev 4 25 inthe swap

Thanks Art, I'll let you know!
Next quick question (I have millions), Bobs Bigfoot Nose Cone? Worth it? Looks like it, and sure seems like a good idea to me!
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
John

I think I went with a imco nose cone on my 89 b1 drive because it was thinner than the bobs nose cone, it came out good back in 1994. but if you can measure your prop shaft height from the keel if its close to 6 to 7'' its deep and you would be better off going for a shortie drive case from imco a 1'' or 2'' which I have. its about 1800 new and you would swap the gears into it. thats what I have now and picked up 4 or 5 mph. my shaft is at about 5'' to 5 1/2 '' deep my boat flies level now handles better but need a 4 blade. I just bought a px5 30 for when the new motor goes in. so let me know the measurement and I will call around for you for the best price on either a cone or shortie, the phone calls cost zip for me but a lot for you I would think. our hulls are both deep vee mine is 24ft with a 24 deadrise. cheers Art

Thanks Art, I'll measure my depth and let you know!

How important is diameter? I've seen various diameter props for Bravo 1s and I'm just curious to know what would be the best diameter for around a 25P prop or are they all standard depending on pitch and number of blades?

Hi again,
I've measured my shaft depth and was a little confused...
I measued the shaft depth at exactly 5 1/2" from the keel but it's around 8" from top of the step just forward of the drive on the bottom. I take it my measurement is only supposed to be from the keel itself? That's as far as I could figure out anyway!
If my drive is only 5 1/2" form keel, is my drive height about right? How is that possible with a standard B1 lower mounted where an Alpha used to be?
Just lucky I guess...
I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them if I get the chance.
Any advice is always helpful!

ok the keel should be the lowest point now you trim your drive level so your prop shaft will be lower to the ground than the keel if you put a straight edge on the keel let it come out to the drive measure the differents between the 2 which should be about 5'' normal or deep 7 to 8'' post to night I will stay up

ok your 25 mirage props from merc were ,I think 14 5/8 seems to stick my 24p hydro is 14 1/2 I think its in a box right now. you can have props cut down but thats mostly the merc max 5 blade, or hydro p5 and px5 props. I just picked up a px5 30p with a 15 d. it should be real close. the bigger the D it raises yor transom lift even if you have a bow lifting prop like the max 5 blade, if mine feels lose I would have bblades take a 1/4'' off. I will check here to night at 2 or 3am that might be when your up and about cheers art

Thanks Art!
I've had another go and as level as I can get the drive, I'm measuring 140mm which is 5.5" exactly.

I've found a Hydromotive 5 Blade (23P) and a 25P Mirage Plus. I hope to find a nice Bravo 26P 4 Bl to compare against as well.

Given that the engine's target rpm will be around 5200 with about 510hp at that rpm on tap, what should I expect from this hull?
