All last season I ran labbed Bravo 1 24P 4-blades on my Formula 303 SR1. They worked fantastic. The boat comes out of the hole effortlessly, planes out almost instantly, cruises level, mid-range accelleration is great, etc., etc. I am really very happy with how they perform. In fact the previous owner who I purchased the boat from told me that when he switched over from the 3-blades that came on the boat to the Bravo 1s that the benifits and change in characteristics to the boat were remarkable.
Here's my only issue; the boat seems to hit high in the RPMs way too easily. I can be north of 5K RPM and still have 3-4 notches on the throttles to go before I am wide open. In fact I've never pushed it farther in fear of hurting the motors. At that RPM I am probably in the neighborhood of 71-73mph. And I am not over trimmed at all.
Info on boat: power is twin 454Mags, 300hrs +/-, basically stock outside of carbs, exhaust, ignition, timing, etc......Mobil1, 93oct fuel. Props are spinning out. Running in fresh water.
My biggest concern is that I don't want to over rev my motors. Isn't the ideal situation to be able to push the sticks wide open and with proper trim run at 5200 RPM or so without over revving? Should I just leave it because the boat runs great as is? And if I were to change to a different prop, where would be a good place to start size-wise?
