Question regarding triple 225 optimax and prop choices / 38 Fountain TE CC
I have a 2002 38 Fountain CC TE. It has triple outboard 225 optimax engines the props are Bravo1 24P 15 1/4 4 blade SS props port motor is counter rotation. I sheared off two opposite blades on the center motor for no appearant reason.(in the middle of the blade) Seems they have a habit of doing this! The boat runs about 65mph..but it seems my max rpm is 5500. The engine is redlined at 5750.
My question: I wanted to go to a 5 blade prop..but I see no one makes a LH rotation prop. Should I stay with the 4 blade bravos? Or should I go with a different brand (more durable?). Should I worry about getting the extra 250rpm out of the motors? I am sure Fountain did alot of testing to come up with the best prop for this application.....what are your thoughts? prop options?.....Thanks
