1989 Liberator
Which Prop for heavy 24'?

I am in the never ending search for the right prop for a very heavy 24' Four Winns Liberator, with the 383 Mag MPI in it. (alpha, ick!)

I have tested a 4 blade Vensura (19P) and are getting about 46mph GPS @ about 4500 RPM.

Also, the 17P Mirage (Quicksilver) is getting about 4600-4700rpm, speed unknown (didn't have GPS, will find out tonight hopefully). Poor dock manners and no-wake behavior with this prop.

I want 5000rpm, I was told the Mirage is not a good choice with an alpha 1.47, that the Vensura is better. I am not terribly fond of a 4 blade design, and was wondering about the Enertia, or other three-bladers. I will say the 4 blade Vensura has much better dock manners than the Mirage.

In a 4 blade prop I would try the 17 Revolution 4.

In a 3 blade the 18 Enertia is a great choice.

We have test propellers if you would like to try one.

Brett, I have two 30 4 blade bravo I on my Fountain. It is a 1988 10 meter with 56 original hours on the hull. I have 2 540s putting out 600 hp. I am turning 4700 RPM at full throttle. Can you get me up arounf 5000 RPMS? What is a ball park figure for doing two props? Al

An update, ran the 17P Mirage (Quicksilver) and got 48mph GPS @ 4800RPM.

Best top speed with the prop a little more than a tad out of the water.

I'm sure Brett can get you 300 rpms.

He labbed my Bravo 1's. Cost was about $360 per prop plus shipping.

Tried the 17P Vensura, not a whole lot different than the 17P Mirage. Planing out actually felt like it took a bit longer/faster to plane, but it seemed it would hold plane at lower speeds. Strange. Definitely smoother and better dock manners. Top speed is the same, although with the Vensura it is less trim/trim tab sensitive to squeeze that last MPH out.

Looks like I will stick with the Mirage, the shop I am working with doesn't have any enertia loaners.
