Prop Pitch Sunesta 232 7.4L MPI

Hi, we have a 2001 Chaparral Sunesta 232 with the 7.4L MPI non-magnum engine in it and are only topping out at 4000 rpm and 55 mph. The trottle is unresponsive for the last 20 degrees or so (out of 90 degrees). It has a 19 pitch, mirage plus, 3 blade steel prop on it now. We're going down to the prop shop on Friday to try out a 17 pitch. Should we go lower than a 17? Thanks.

If the speed is GPS, that is correct. Your tach must be off. The boat should have a 21 pitch prop with a 1.5 ratio drive at about 4600 RPM.
