Need help on 82 Wellcraft prop guestimation?
82 wellcraft/scarab 26 foot
Bravo 1
540 big block 620HP at 5350 635tq/4300
i bought the boat without an engine, orignal owner said he could get it to do 62mph with stock 454HO and 23P mirage 3 blade at 5000RPMS.
I am not looking for all out speed, but it would be nice to get 75 out of it??? i would love the cruise to be up in the 45-50's.
Again I dont know if I am way out of my league with the numbers. hit me with the honesty.

I had a CC Stinger 26'. I think our boats were close to the same. Mine did 58 m.p.h. stock with twin 350 c.i. motors rated at 260h.p. each (probably crank rating). I added between (estimated) 100-120 h.p. and went from a 21" pitch 3-blade clever to a 23" 3-blade clever. I increased the top speed to 62-63 m.p.h. (The 63 m.p.h. speed was with very low fuel.) So it seemed that it took about 25h.p. to achieve 1 additional m.p.h. My scientific wild assed guess (SWAG) puts your newly powered rig somewhere in the 70-70+ range properly propped. 75 with a labbed prop? Could be. Let me know how it all works out!

Hi bangingears,
Ok,
In order for you to hit your speed goal using the efficency that the boat had with the old power, you will need to turn 26.4 inches of pitch at 5250 rpm (giving you some WOT room).
So, with a 26 Bravo 1, you will need to spin 5500 rpm.
A Labbed B1 26 might get you there.
Call us when you can and we can run throught the numbers and be smarter moving forward.
Thanks,
Brett
