Depends on how much hp, boats load, your style of driving and what your trying to achieve. My boat came with a 502 mpi, it ran a HONEST 62 mph stock with 23 pitch merc 3 blade. I tried a bunch of diff props and saw about 64 mph but it wouldn't always run that fast with the "fastest" prop unless boat was running light. Some guys run a 22 pitch 4 blade to get good crusing and take off with a little less top end. If I still had a stock 272 I would be inclined to try a 24 pitch 4 blade cut down labbed prop but keep in mind they are about 1000$ new. You could give Greg Hittner a call at Cutting Edge , he is building some real nice props and has the best price on new props if you go that dircetion.
A few things I WILL tell you:
1. If you are fairly new to this boat, BORROW, don't BUY a new prop to try, I ended up owning about 10,000$ worth of props from all my experiments!
2. IF you are going to modify it, do your mods FIRST before wasting your time trying a bunch of props
3. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING: Don't believe the speeds claimed on all these 272 Baja's that guys will tell you, I have heard claims as high as mid 70's with stock 496's/502's etc and many claims of high 60's/ low 70's with stock "black" motors. I think I have only read about 500 Threads in past 10 years on here where someone has tried 10 different props, saw mid 60's and just can't belive there boat is 5+ mph SLOWER than everyone else's STOCK Baja's. I have a 2000 272, it runs 100 mph (with 1100hp) and looks stock. I have paced at least 50+ 272's and 25 outlaws that were stock and not one has EVER broke 70 mph (GPS) and most were lucky to run 65/66 mph on a good day, light on fuel and passengers, down stream with a tail wind , Smitty

I had a 98 272 that dynoed at 728hp at 5300 and I ran a stock 30p bravo. I think a 30 or a 28 bravo will be your best bet. Also you should add hydro steering if you don't have it.

I sold it before I could really test it. The guy I sold it to is on here. His screen name is pacalim1965@yaho. I think he has seen over 90 and runs high 80's all the time. Get it touch with him to confirm.

Your going to end up running a labbed 28 or 30 depending where your peak power is and assuming you have a 1.50 drive. Don't waste your time with a 3 blade. I have had many engines in my 272- ran mid to high 70's with a blown 600-650 hp 502 turning a 26 and 28 4 blade. Ran high 70's to mid 80's with 750 hp 540 turning a 28 or a labbed 30. Ran 89-92 with 950 hp turning a labbed 30 or 32. Currently runs 96 at 6200 turning a labbed 30 and will run 99 or so turning a labbed 32 6000-6100 with 1050 hp. With the blower belt off running normally aspirated at 650 hp runs 74-76 with a labbed 26. Definately try a prop before buying, I doubt you will turn a standard 30 at the rpm you need, I would be pretty sure a 28 or labbed 30 is going to be about right on your boat unless you have it over cammed and hp peak is 6000 plus, then I could possibly see a labbed 28 that is tweaked a little in your future, all depends on the rpm's of your hp peak and if your out ripping around with 1 or 2 people and 1/4 tank of gas or fully loaded . It doesn't sound like your running a blower, N/A boats are a little harder to prop as they have less tq and are more temp/load sensitive, Smitty

Artic is right on! My 272 with a stock 502 ran a max of 63.4 5100 on gps last year with a worked 23 Mirage that came with the boat. I added Stainless Marine exhaust flashed the ECU and had Greg Hittner at Cutting Edge lab a 23p Mirage plus which he suggested I add some cup and shave down slighly it rides the bow up higher now and handle the rough better then ever! (GREAT WORK) Even after that only running 65.00 @ 5200 but I'm happy nice cruise and handles like a champ. All readings were with full tank loaded with cooler and beer
