Nuther prop question..
89 Cruisers Rogue 2500... Borrowed a buddies 14 3/4 23 pitch SS Cabelas prop to get an idea where I was.. Comes out of the water ok with the tabs, and am twisting 4800 on a stock 330 hp 454, 75 gallons of gas on 2-3 foot chop... A little bumpy but I think I could have added a bit of trim yet, tabs were all the way up. Seems like anything steeper would give me holeshot problems, but time to buy something.. Suggestions please? Thanks much! Den

A little more information will help to determine the best option.
What is your gear ratio, speed at WOT and the ultimate goal you are trying to achieve. (speed, fuel economy, etc.)

Thanks Brett! I'll get back onna speed, gps was down that day ha ha! Believe it's 1:50 gear, and looking for a top end without torturing the stock motor, and being able to get out of the water with a load of fuel...Thanks! Den

Ok.. Got most of the bugs worked out I think.. Disregard my earlier numbers.. I think I was misreading things.. Turning 4300 at 46 mph (gps) with 70 gallons of gas.. I have a 21 pitch to try next.. Not sure of the diameter, as it's not here, but think it's at least 14 3/4 to 15 inch.. What rpm should I be turning with the stock 330 hp 454? I did see 4400 - 4500 and 47 with a 1/4 tank yesterday across 2-3 footers, so I'm getting there, just need the rpm up I think.. Suggestions? Advice? Help?

Your rpm level is ok but could be higher. A better question is to why the slip% is so high. I assume these numbers are with the 23 and and you have not tried the 21 as of yet. The fact that the 23 is a Cabelas prop suggests trying another propeller that will have better QC. We have a ton of test propellers! Let us know and we can help with a few options. I think a litlle more blade area will be a great idea.

Thanks again Brett.. I'll try the 21 this weekend and get back to you. I did notice I was doing 30 at 3,000 if that means anything.. Probably not ha ha! I bought this thing with no outdrive, so I didn't have anything to base it on.. I boat mostly on Lake Huron, and 2 - 4 footers are the norm.. Probably won't be hammering it on any four's ha ha, but plenty of three's out there.. Do you think low 50's might be attainable with this power? Den

Den, sorry for the delay in response.
I believe 50 is going to be the max and would require special prop work.
How did the 21's run?
