Default Took my 27' fountain fever to the lake to try new prop

Took my fountain to the lake today to try my new bravo 1 24pitch prop and I'm running 60 mph @ about 4850-4900 rpm with a 502 mpi black motor
Had 3 people in the boat 465lbs between the three of us and 25 gallons of fuel @ 6.1lbs a gallon =152.5 lbs of fuel and a grand Total of =617.5lbs

The same boat people are getting 70 I'm 10mph away

Seems like it would have more but it does have bottom paint on it so it has some drag...any suggestions?

Your propslip is about 14% which is about where it should be.

Are you using a gps for speed??? What about the other people who say they run 70???

A 24 pitch prop isn't going to push you 70mph @5000 rpms or less with a 1.5 ratio drive.

The bottom paint is probably causing a 10% speed loss. You would probably be able to spin a 26 at the same or more rpm without the bottom paint.

My friend Had a straight bottom 27 it had paint about 4 years worth kept getting slower every year. The last year only could get 56/55 on gps. It was a 502 stock motor with stainless marine exhaust. I took the paint off took it out and got 68 mph on the gps all the time. It's the paint.

Yes all on GPS ...I was thinking of buying a 26p hydomotive but I'm going to remove the bottom paint first before I do anything

Do you think a 26p hydromotive would be a better choice than a bravo1 24p I'd like to get as close to 70 as possible

Use BBlades prop test program after you have removed the bottom paint.
