I think with the added Blade area of the 5 blade with 2" less pitch your rpm should be close to what it is now, the added benefit would be bite, if you have a high X dim your bite should improve (like carry the nose better) What kind of X dim do you have? Big Block? (probably if you spin a 30" now)

I have 1 inch imco on it. And I think my dead rise 22 or 23. Hp 465 with 731 cam and merlin heads and Eddie marine exhaust Full roller dart intake. All the toys. I have issues. Have standard bravo 1. Does the 5 blade hurt drive.

I run a 540-powered Donzi 22 with a shorty. I am running the same pitch range as you are with the Scarab. I even have a Bravo 30 4 blade in the arsenal. I typically run a Hydro 29 P5X. I also have a 30 Hydro P5 and a 29 Hering 5 blade. The issue I would see with the Maximus will be the diameter, as it is huge. My hull likes nothing over about 15 inches. Unless the Maximus has been cut down, it is going to be bigger than that. As for the 5 blades being hard on the drive, I haven't seen it. The driver is typically the one that is hard on the drive. I do run an XR, but I don't baby it and I run on the Great Lakes with a 5 blade on the back 90% of the time. Good luck with your testing, but I suggest you try them all.

I use to run my 22 scarab with a 741 cam on 509ci and -2 imco shorty, the best prop i found was a Hydro P5 28pitch 15 diameter lab finish by Throttle up. It's was like the boat was moving on rails even in rough seas. Now since I put in a 525 efi engine, I'm still having prop headaches :-( Good luck.

I tried a 5 blade 28 maximus on my 272 Baja back when it only had 950 hp about 6 or 7 years ago, it torque rolled terrible everytime you gave it more throttle and felt too "connected" to the water (I usually run a 30 labbed merc). After several runs thruout a day with a 1" spacer and without I sheared off a billet max worx prop shaft like a twig, I stay away from 5 blade maximus props now. A fried has a 540 na powered 22 scarab, its a slow 70 mph pig for as much motor as he has, he has tried all my spare 24-27 pitch props (mostly labbed merc 4 blades) and complains of too much transom lift with certain 4 blades, I can't imagine a 5 blade maximus on one unless the x was moved up a mile, Smitty
