Default 1998 27 Fever with 496 Strocker prop help!

Hey Guys, I am turning a 27 Fever with 496 Stroker Dyno'd at 550hp. The prop I have on it now is the 3 blade 23P Mirage. I am getting about 70mph on gps, with rpm's creeping close to 5400.. Max hp is at 4800 according to the dyno sheet so I don't believe there is any reason for this over revving.

Anyway to get closer to 80? I have heard suggestions from 24p 4 blade to 26 Hydro?? Props are $$ just want to make a good close choice before I whip out the bucks..

We have a test propeller program that allows you to test without buying props. We are the only company in the country that I know does this. We can offer some options and you can test those props.
I would be interested in seeing your dyno sheet to determine the best propping rpm as well.
Let us know if we can help.

Bravo 1 26P seems like a very big jump for me from a 23P? I would like to see upper 70's to 80's on GPS thought!~

Hello,

I can't even guess how many 27 ft. Fountain's we have propped out with both stock, and modified power. With stock power the Quad IV works very well. That was the prop of choice by Fountain until they were taken over by MerCruiser in 2001. With modified power the P-5 X is by far the best solution on your application. Great hole shot, unparallelled mid range speed, and the best top end.

We have a 30 day trial period on our returns and exchanges. Give us a call to review your application in more detail.

Thanks,

Thom

Actually Reggie wanted all Labbed Mercury Bravo 1's on his boats but in 1998 the Mercury Racing bean counters wouldn't allow Dennis and I to give Reggie a additional discount. The result was a upset Reggie and a move to other props to spite us. (True story).
That does not mean the Q4 propeller isn't a great prop. It works well. In some cases under certain set ups it will out perform the Bravo 1 on top end. However, from plane ability to mid range the Bravo 1 is almost always the better choice. As far as top speed, the Bravo 1 is 50/50 the better top speed performer in stock configuration and almost always faster when Labbed.

As I stated before, with our test program, you are not required to purchase a propeller. You simply pay a test fee of $45 to test a prop. Some other companies allow exchanges but not a true "test" program. We have Mercury, Hydromotive, Turbo, and some Hering propellers for testing.

Enforcer 27, call me or Brad or Kaila and we can set you up in the test program. Email the dyno sheet to [email protected]
