Default Wich Prop for Nordix 28 heat, 8.2HO bravo X

Hi,

As i just bought a 2011 Nordic 28 heat in belgium, i was wondering wich prop would be the best for my boat. Now i have a bravo one 24 P and im going 67mph at 5000 rpm at 2000ft altitude ( tested in italy at lake garda ).
I am going to use it in belgium and holland where is no altitude.

Engine spec : 2011 8.2 MAG HO 321kw ( 430 ), Bravo X

Anyone with experience that can say what prop to test?

Thanks alot !

Regards
Tommy

Sounds like you are propped perfectly now, the max recommended RPM range is 4600-5000 if I remember correctly. When you get it to Belgium and Holland do some testing unless you are running into the rev limiter (5150) I think you will be fine with the 24p if not go up one size to the 26p.

Hi, my nordic is only making 67 or 68mph top speed with the 8.2 HO. This should be around 71-72. I am wondering if it could be the prop... any suggestions?
with a 26 pitch i will loose top speed, correct?

Regards

I will ask the mercury dealer to try some props, i will post the results ( will be around march )

Thx

I know some boats with a bravo prop, in general the holeshot, stability and cruising will be better with that prop but you lose some speed compared to a 3blade prop.i know someone with the same nordic also in belgium i think he also runs a bravo.
Most stock nordic heats have a bravo prop and with the stepped hull it will be the best for this setup i think.
in general you could do better with a 3 blade on top speed but the boat wil run better with the 4 blade.
Any way changing in pitch will not help speed if you stay in the same type prop
I am also from belgium (Gent)
I think you could use some testprops at van akelyen services in zele.
If you try a 3blade you will have to up one pitch to keep the rpm the same.

I don't know of anyone that's had any luck with a 3 blade on a Nordic. Most guys will run a 26P on a stock powered Nordic at sea level. Most 28 Heat's will be 65 MPH boats with 415/425 HP give or take. If you are seeing 67 with a 430HP and a 26P at 2000', you sir have one fast Nordic.

Search the Nordic forum, plenty of info on various speed combo's.

I have a 24P 4 blade at the moment, maybe thats why im seeing 67-68 mph... Or is this wrong ? ( less pitch = more top speed )

That's a really fast Nordic, maybe because its a 2011. Most Heats are not that fast with that power. I would say like the other poster said, you are set up pretty good for your current elevation. If you go down to sea level, you will want to go up in pitch. I would suggest a 26P 4 blade.

Good luck-
