38 Donzi ZX, are the drives rotation right ?
Here is a Question ?
I own a 2000 38 Donzi ZX and a friend of mine asked a very good question ?
the props are rotating from the centre out, standing at the back of the boat looking at the drives the port side prop is rotating counter clockwise and the starboard the is rotation is clockwise.
Many of the other Donzi boats we have looked at are the opposite , Would it make any difference if they were the opposite way ?
almost seems the props would be drawing disturbed water from the other prop spinning rather than drawing water from the opposite side where the water would seem undisturbed .
Not sure if the performance of the boat is why they are on this way or did someone put them on wrong ...?

All the zx's I've seen were spinning in, and had a sticker from the factory over the transom assembly pointing to the prop rotation. Port side has right hand prop, stbd has a left. Supposedly they handle much better at speed and run flatter like this. I have not tried switching it on my friends Daytona.

mine spun in (port-clockwise, stbd-counter) I always wanted to try spinning out but was told it didn't work with that hull although I have heard at higher speeds and hp they work spinning out. its tough to find fault with a stock 525sc boat that ran 82 so I just left it alone. I will say this though I never cared for how flat it ran, was very bow heavy. I went back to a straight bottom hull. Works better for the water I run. Absolutly love the 38 ZX though, best looking boat ever.

Spinning in = bow lift, more lean in turns inboard prop tries to pull the boat down, can be more dangerous more likely to roll, harder around the docks, sometimes faster
Spinning out = stern lift, less lean in the turns, safer, easier to dock, can be slower.
Those are the general answers for what rotation does, most step hull boats don't need bow lift as they tend to run flat on the steps but every boat is different. Best thing to do it try swapping the props and see if you like it better or not. You can just swap the props and use reverse to go forward to test them out.

Dave is Wright about the zx models running flat. My 33 looks like it is going to berry the nose on flat water I couldnt imagine what it would be like without the bow lift from the props.
