Just read another comment, I played with my tabs one day and found that if you put them down the speed increases, not sure why maybe it picks the ass of the boat more out of the water, give that a try see what happens,

teclpse - sounds like your drive is too deep. You might want to try a shorty.

Please excuse the questions but I have no idea of your experience or skill.

My trim works fine, and the boat react to it as it should. I have been sailing powerboats for many years, and i know how to use it..:-) The Mirage did not handled as good as the Revo4. It had a tendency to make big blow outs.

Dont know in your case , but I have a customer with a old 28 Nordic V hull with a 502 Mag that never had a blow out issue till he had a nose cone installed , maybe some hulls dont like them.... GOOD LUCK !

I am running a 22p four blade at 5100rpm and can only get 62mph, tried a 25p 3blade and the boat hated it, lost rpm and massive blowout on turns. A friend has the same boat with a 25p 3blade and he can run 65-67mph, just not sure if it is the hull design on these boats but seems you need big power to get over 70mph. just wanted to throw my 2 cents at it, I am by no means an expert. good luck and happy boating.
I am going to guess that the friends boat with the same setup that runs 67 with the mirage prop has a standard bravo lower. That Imco lower with the nose cone is killing your speed. Would be interested in results after swapping to a stock lower.

Drive shower pick ups can cause lots ofslip and lower mph. I've had this happen.

Just mentioning this cause some things like this get overlooked and much time and $$$ get's spent on other things to no avail.

68 mph is accurate on the twin SBC's. Your boat is down 100hp but is also a lot lighter. You should be mid to high 60's but I doubt 70+.

Try what SB mentioned with the drive shower. Weigh your boat. Wellcraft 29's are known to get wet transoms.
