Prop for a Verado 400R & Phantom 25
Hi!
I am buying a Verado 400R for delivery in the new year.
I have been running a Verado 350 Sci since 2011. Best speed is 81,3 (a few times 81,7 mph) with a reworked REV2 25 pitch prop at 6,550 rpms. Standard Bravo 4bl 26 did not work out. Neither did a Tempest A45 25 and labbed Mirage 25 props. REV4 has been fastest.
My concern is that I will end up running the propshaft too low for the Sportmaster LU. I run my HD 5,4 LU approx 2 inches below the bottom. If I run higher the prop loose bite. I estimate the top speed with the 400R to be 86-88 mph. It will depend on the set up. As standard the Phantom 25 do not has a notch. However, I have added a 8 inch notch this spring to get better lift.
I wonder what kind of prop will do the trick. What about the Max5 prop? Or the 4bl Promax prop? Bretts 4bl Blaster? I presume I need to jump into it and try the REV4 to get a baseline. I will test a TXP 25 tomorrow to see how it handles.
