I;m not a fan of hypercracking pistons.

Good choice. TRW also has some good pistons. I have never had a problem with them. Look at the L88 style small dome piston. Should be 9.2 to 1 comp. ratio. Set total dist. advance at 38 degrees and run 92 octane pump gas. Should run like a raped ape all day long

Remember the 502 crank with the same casting number as the 454 mag crank is specifically balanced for je pistons you can no longer buy . Get srp forged to match the weight of one of the je pistons you holefully got with the deal and forgo the tedious rebalance of a 502 crank.the 454 mag slugs plus the xtra grams ,you will have to call srp to see if they still offer them off the shelf.
Yes, a good set of CLEAN 502 mag pistons will find a buyer.
The 496 is decent with a cam but you dont have a the electronics .and havent tried to find that cam If your friends can plug you in with the stand alone efi and ign and cam grind p/n it will
