Never seen a 28 saber up close, but I have seen and riden on a 28 pantera. I would put my apache right up there.

I talked to the boat broker yesterday. the cockpit intiour is hit.., boat has been painted red on the bottom with you run of the mill boat bottom paint. and has the old throttle drive system. with only one sick. Pluss noticed in the pics that the boat has really small just like small alluimium(sp) trim tabs. single engine. the story on it is the owner moved to FL. from MI. didnt wnat to move the boat down there and run it in salt. so figured list it up there for sale and see what happens. Im thinking of going to look at it this comming weekend. its sitting in a lot near Kalmozoo(sp) MI. not to long of a ride but its still a drive. got any info. on the boat in general????? things to look for. stuff like that?

How hard would it to be to strip that bottom paint off and make this thing nice?

I agree with you & thats why that sentence was nestled right between this statement...

"there are some other great 28's out there & I don't want to act like Saber & Pantera have the monopoly on well build boats... However I will say that you will Not find a better built 28 than either... It's really just up to your personal preference"

PM me that info & I would be glad to take a look & give my 2cents worth... I will say that stripping off the bottom paint & making it right would be a serious job and wouldn't be cheap.

I live on the way to modern marine form lapeer stop by and take a look at one that has had a complete remodel to get a idea of what it could be , they are a great boat and draw a ton of atention. modern marine is going to talk the boat down (there a velocity dealer) two people I know have looked at the boat, and had it happen too them.

And for those that don't know.......28 Saber - the only boat under 30ft to of received offshore powerboat of the year by powerboat magazine.

Which is a Major accomplishment in itself considering the boat was built east of the Mississippi...
