Re: Who's Scarab KV is this for sale?
Here´s prolly the lowest hour and best condition survivor of them all 38KV MV editions.
126hr total with under 80hrs in the water. Been in it personally and it´s spotless.

Re: Who's Scarab KV is this for sale?
So what do you think the project MV from Spain in Classifieds is worth ?
Asking 23K$ for the bare hull but there´s even 38TGs with TRS-drives and steering for about the same price for sale.

MikeyFIN,
That boat has been around for a long, long time. I talked to the guy about it well over a year ago before I bought my Cig. He sent me several pics along with info. At the time he was selling with drives. From what I could see, the boat is stored outside and is only in poor to fair shape. I was thinking of buying the boat unseen and having it shipped to the US if he would take care of everything and my cost was $20K US to the closet US port. Before it got too serious, I found my boat.
I wouldn't pay more than about 15K US if you would go pick it up. You're going to have to spend 30K to get it in shape; and that's counting on being able to salvage the paint, which is questionable.
BTW, there's a 38' Cig Top Gun. 1988 with 525hp motors and TRS drives for $55K. That may be the deal this winter. Check it out in the Cig forum.

I didn't see it in the classifieds either, but I know which boat he is talking about. It's been for sale on OSO before. Pics show it with no engine hatches, bolsters or seat. The guy told me he has all those parts and the guy is at some kind of marine service place. He tried to get me to buy it with engines installed. OEM carbed 454's. That boat would be a pig with those engines. I hate to see a beautiful classic just sitting going downhill, but it's only a deal if you can get a decent, finished product with about 500hp a side for around 50K, and that boat needs alot to get to that point.
BTW, it also needed interior cabin work, and looked like the cabin had gotten wet before.

Was it a yellow and black striped thing? That was in a service place and the guy was trying to sell it on Ebay with a blown trans.
Is there a particular reason why these cabins get wet eg leaking deck hull seal? Common fault or just bad winterisation?
