Re: 29 scarab speeds? what do you do?

My 98 29 with twin 350 mpi motors stock ran 68@5000rpm's (GPS) with 23 pitch 3 blade mirage plus props. Full of fuel. The only other mods are stainless marine exhaust and K&N filters. Then I added pro-chargers and switched to 28 pitch 4 blade bravo 1 props running 5 psi boost and have seen 80 every once in a while when conditions are pefect, any other time 78 @ 5000 rpms.
It ran a little faster with three blade props but was harder to control.

I have had zero problems in ywo seasons. It was the best money I have spent. The cruise speed is awesome and the economy at cruise speed if awesome.

Total cost, I don't want to think about it.

Two pro-charger kits Call Rob at RW Marine for the best price
Traded props, no cost
computer reflash $450

Do you have any pic's of the install, did you charge your steering? I figured 67/70mph would be fine but after 15hrs of boating I'm way bored with it.

On a side note on of my fresh finished props had a nice "dent" – after it came back from John’s Prop shop I was able to find my lost rpm/mph – Back to 68.7mph with a ˝ tank full cooler and wife.

The more I drive the 29 Scarab the more I like it! - My hart was set on a Sunsation but I could not pass on this deal. But I sure was grinning ear to ear this weekend when I ran down and passed a buddys 288 (502Mag) in some pretty snotty water.

Re: 29 scarab speeds? what do you do?

Mine has hyd steering already, came that way also has 280 tabs. I did the install myself, read a lot on here and spoke with some people prior to starting the install. Learned a lot of the do and don'ts. Install was fairly stright forward. The only real hard parts are the fuel connections and only because there is just not much room in these boats.

Did you ever start a thread about the install, were you purchased them from or fuel line routing?

What year Scarab do you have?
How many hours were on the engines before you "charged"them?
How many hours have you run the charged engines?

Sorry for all the questions, but I would really like to install a set - Dollar $$ for dollar them seem like the best performance gain.

Re: 29 scarab speeds? what do you do?

98 model 350 mpi motors, 142 hours when installed, I would guess at around 180 now.Mark at Percision marine did the reprogram for me, I bought the chargers from RW Marine, no one could beat their price, kits were drop shipped from ATI, I installed boost and fuel pressure gauges at the same time, all supplied by ATI. The only issue I had was one weak factory fuel pump. Come to find out there was a TSB from Mercruiser on it. ATI support worked with me to figure out the problem, also having twins and being able to swap parts from one motor to another helped as well. Mine are setup on the easy side, 5 psi and stock timing. I like the cruise speed of a little 53 mph at 3000 rpm. I use less fuel now when cruising then I did prior to installing the chargers. I really don't think there is a better bang for the buck for a stock motor mod. I like mine and will do it again on the next boat, whatever it is. Let me know if you have any more questions.

80 in perfect conditions with 4 blade Bravo 1 28 pitch props. Lathan hub with Imco setup at the rear. Takes some driving and getting used to, you have to work the tabs a little, was a little faster with three bladed but took more driving and the cruise was not as good. I can run 77-78 everyday with full load of fuel.

Re: 29 scarab speeds? what do you do?

I had a 28 Scarab with a single Franks Marine big block engine and a brovo drive. Top speed was 93 MPH. It was a Larry Smith step bottom hull with a full canopy. 93 MPH is exciting, but I must admit the ride was nicer and lots less stressful down in the 70 MPH range.
