1997 Scarab SCS.502,"Face Off" movie boat and a bunch other gofast toys.
I think your trying to spin a prop that's too big. What part of the country do you live. With your 454ci motor what is the horsepower...385 or 330hp? That boat should run high 60's if the motor is in good condition.

I think you will see some good performance gains with a mirage 23 prop.I suggest you ask this question in the "prop forum" as there are some guys on there with some good experience.

91 Scarab 21' Excel/1999 Proline 200 sport
what rpm's are you turning with 25p?

A 23p is the stock prop for this boat. I was spinning a 23p mirage at 5k rpm's with the stock 7.4l on my 21 excel.

I would like more info on this as well. I have a 1996 22' Scarab with 330HP 7.4L and a 23" Mirage. I bump the rev limiter at 4600 RPM and 62 MPH. I am thinking of having the prop worked over to a 24"

I Just bought the boat this past december and have only taken her out 3 times prior to getting her serviced. She is in the shop now and I am looking forward to seeing how she performs after the full tune up.

I live in SoCal and she has only been in freshwater. The Pink slip states the engine is a 454 7.4l 310hp. With the 25p Mirage I can pull 4400rpm's and she tops out @ 64

I live in SoCal and she has only been in freshwater. The Pink slip states the engine is a 454 7.4l 310hp. Did they make a 310hp? or is it really a 330hp? With the 25p Mirage I can pull 4400rpm's and she tops out @ 64mph.

Do you think the prop is to big?? Is 25p to big for the boat and this Engine?
She is completely stock besides the prop. What performance should I expect from the boat?
The shop is telling me that the motor is in good condition and compression is good. I would think that with a motor this big she should run a upper 60's at least?
I appreciate the feedback and yout houghts keep them coming!!

I still think you need to try a Mirage 23 plus and you may even want to try a Bravo 1 four blade prop and baseline your rpm's and holeshot with each prop.Any decent prop shop in your area will let you test a prop with just a deposit on the prop. The prop shops here in Colorado will let us test a prop for a $100.00 deposit and if it's returned in good condition they will refund your money.

As for you engine I beleive there is a 310hp non mag 454.Go into the Mercruiser.com site and they will list all specs of your engine.
Also,speedometers are rearly 100% accurate.My speedo says I'm going 80mph but with gps I'm really going 75.7mph.
