Default Scarab 23 SCS weight

All,

Looking at a 23 SCS as a potential next boat, but am concerned about the tow vehicle I would need to pull it. What is the weight of the 23 SCS and how big is the fuel tank?

Thanks.

Is that your boat? I'm just looking for a plain jane SCS, nothing so exotic as that one.

The one in OSO classified is not mine.I did however speak with him prior to buying the one I bought from Michigan.

What kind of truck do you have to pull it with? The prior owner of my SCS had a late 90's GMC 1500 and he said he had no problems.Which boat are you looking at? As I said,I bought mine in January of this year site unseen.Had an inspection done on the hull and all but that's it.Didn't start it up since it was 10 below zero.

Just started the boat for the first time last saturday. The boat fired right up and sounded solid.Took it out to the lake, ran it for a couple hours then all of a sudden the motor quit working.Had to be towed off the lake.Came home and diagnosed the problem to be water in all starboard cylinders.Got the water out, changed plugs, oil and filter and fired right up again. The problem was the gasket at the exhaust riser failed due to water pressure.According to Mercury Tech Support those exhaust risers often fail and can cause catostrophic engine failure.

All is good now.....Good Luck finding your new boat. These boats sure do turn heads out there!!!

I saw one in boat trader in Ohio with a 454 in it. Here's the link - any thoughts?
http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/8/9/88415889.htm

I'm looking for something that could be a cool project boat (ie engine upgrades, interior upgrades, graphics, etc.)

I have a 2000 Explorer with the V8 and the air suspension, and it is rated to tow around 6500lb. Was thinking of an FJ Cruiser to replace it, but that isn't going to cut it with this boat, and I'd like to keep the SUV mid sized because I live in downtown Toronto, so not sure what to do on that front.

The boat would mostly be kept in water at a marina on Georgian Bay, but it'd be cool if I could do road trips with it (Miami in the winter!).

Do you have any good pics of an SCS so I can get a better idea of what I'm dealing with?

Thanks!
