I had the exact same 96' model. It was a great boat. That thing handled the chop of Lake Erie, Lake St. Claire and the rivers very well for a 19' boat. I saw 57 mph once with my wife and I and a cooler but it would run 53-55 all day. Its like a sports car with the left side drive lay out and the throtle and trim and you definatley have to drive it and work the trim. Some of the most fun I have ever had. Ive contemplated getting a 22' latley to put around in. If it handles as good as the sprint did and will do 70 mph I will be very pleased.

The only complaint I had was the cheesy wood compartment seperators in the engine compartment. Kinda hack. Youll love that boat when you get the motor dropped in. I would get complimented all the time by the big boats because it was like a little hot rod. Dang I miss that thing now! Good luck!

Cool Scarab Sprint

Here is a pic I took the day I got it.

My goal is to remove the bottom paint by the end of this year.

Drop the engine and drive in by end of January.

Feb and March will be all new interior and I have to build an engine hatch.

Banana Belated reply

Also have a 19 bet mine is a jet. Took the 4.6 out and droped in a 540 drag merlin. Needless to say I am doodling with hull stability.

Tripp here (new to this site) I picked the 19 jet off ebay last year. Had to repower and working some bugs out. I can't get it past 40mph (I think the impeller is too large for motor) and the bow will bounce uncrontrolably with more than two people. plus it is slow out of hole Need some advise please.

1996 Scarab Sprint
aubtiger77 - I have got a 96 Sprint with the 4.3L Alpha so I can't speak for the jet; but the hull is definitely trim sensitive. A little too much trim and you'll be porposing in no time.

With a 19P Stainless prop I run about 48MPH, and with a 23P about 55-57.

I owned one myself. I was going to put a 1.5 ratio alpha one on it(had a 1.65) and drop a mild 350 in it, but never got around to it. Didn't feel like dropping the $$ on that particular boat. I can see me getting another one in the future and doing the above to it if the price is right on it.
