What do I have?
Hi all,
I have some "hair like" cracking on the port side rear and port side near the windscreen. They are very fine and I can barely get a fingernail in them. What can I use to get them out. They are about 4-6 in. long and it looks like someone may have struck my boat with another, but there isnt an impact depression on either spot. I had the boat pulled at the end of the season to rebuild both engines, the shop used what I consider a sling lift. If positioned incorrectly would the sling lift do this kind of damage? I'm just noticing the cracks after the weather has turned cold, could it be the temp. also? Anyway, like I said they are very fine and sure they'll fix easy. Thanks for any info.

i had a 1996 29.5
sounds like a typical scarab ,every scarab that i have had especially my 29.5 had these fine hair line cracks of you speak of,i would call it the top rail from the windshield to the engine compartment area or the top rail of sides of interior area, where if you were driving you would put your arm on top of rail ,?????if you were driving and looking north and south to the back of you ,would the cracks run from west to east or side to side , is this where you are talking about ??29.5 is the model

actually its pretty common in any Lexan wind screens. I have them on the ones in my ScarabIII and also the 28 Batboat has them. Its pretty common when Lexan flat stock is cold formed (which i'm assuming your are) although i have seen on relatively flat pieces to. Maybe its a form of UV damage in the windscreen surface. probably have to be replaced.
