need some info for a 29
I need some help, I have a 1996 29 single. Prior to me buying the boat, the engine hatch actuator was pulled out so the engine could be pulled. I have the actuator and have it installed. My problem is that there seems to be something missing as it will only open about 18 inches. I have seen some pics that show some kind of pipe that extends the range, but the pics were notdetailed on that part enough. Can anyone with the same boat help me get this figured out, maybe some detailed pics? I appreciate everyone on here for all the info

Mine doesn't have that. My buds does but his actuator is shot. I'll try and get a shot. It definatly should open more than 18 inches. It is a piece of pvc that is slotted on the sides so you can lift the hatch when the batt is dead or out of the boat.

Aweome I appreciate the help guys. Hey by the way I have another question, the mechanic at my marina( a good mechanic but not certified) called me and said he has access to a chevy 427 marine motor for a $1000, he said it puts out 550hp, and has limited hours on it. My question is if it will drop into my 29 without a problem or am I asking for a headache? thanks guys

I have the pictures of the lift, my camera is not getting along with the computer at the moment. I will post them as soon as I can. As for the 427 I am not sure, if it is a big block it should just be a matter of getting the motor mounts correct for the front and the bellhousing should be the same. I'm sure someone else on here has more info for you.

hey fast22, you are the man. I am going to appreciate the pics, it will help me out a lot! As you can tell, I am trying to get to know my new boat. I can't wait till next year to hear and ride it. I have moved up from a nova 23xl, great boat but it was time to move up. I bought this boat minus the motor and outdrive but otherwise complete. I may need to pick your brain from time to time and will thank you in advance. Thanks Joe
